4. Rusev
Over the past two years, both of John Cena's WrestleMania opponents have suffered from facing him on the Grandest Stage Of Them All. Bray Wyatt and Rusev came out on the losing end of their respective feuds with the leader of the Cenation, and their single victories over him were quickly forgotten by fans when Cena then went on to easily beat them on multiple occasions. As a result, they've slipped down the card and lost a lot of their momentum, and that made the prospect of the United States Champion once again burying Rusev on a recent Raw extremely unappealing. The fact that Rusev had just come out of a brutal Triple Threat match added an interesting wrinkle though, and Cena targeting the exhausted - but still resilient Rusev - helped the Bulgarian Brute to recover at least some of that lost mystique. When Rusev managed to lock in The Accolade, it really did appear as if the WWE were going to throw a massive curve ball by having him regain his lost championship. Timely interference from Kevin Owens brought the match to an abrupt end, but the fact that Rusev had Cena beat before that happened hopefully won't be quickly forgotten.
