Little did most of us realise it at the time, but during his entrance to accept Cena's Open Challenge (which saw the NXT Superstar receive an introduction by the legendary Bret Hart) Sami Zayn tore his rotator cuff. Rewatching the match, it's clear to see that he was in discomfort from the second the bell rang, and the fact that it became worse as the match progressed makes his performance all the more amazing. It's hard to imagine what must have been going through Zayn's mind as he realised that he was injured during the most high profile and important match of his WWE career, and him carrying on regardless was damn impressive. Despite clearly being limited, Zayn still delivered an A+ match with Cena here and no doubt unfortunately worsened the condition of his arm in the process. While it may have been Kevin Owens who brought the NXT Championship to Raw and made it clear that it means something, there's no denying that Zayn opened the door to that happening. His surprise appearance in his hometown brought some much needed attention to NXT in a period where it just so happens to be hot as hell, and hopefully when Zayn makes his return, it will be immediately on the main roster!
