Every Major AEW Show RANKED From Worst To Best

11. Fight For The Fallen 2020

Not necessarily a major show - much of it functioned to build, not to pay off - an accurate suffix for Fight For The Fallen 2020 is Fight For The Fallen: We Couldn't Do The Main Event At Fyter Fest, Which Incidentally NXT Pathetically Counter-Programmed With The Great American Bash, Because WWE Risked The Health Of Our Champion's Wife.

Still, that main event felt big, promoted as it was with some gloriously aggressive verbal interplay between Jon Moxley and Taz. It turned into a damn good match by the time of a finish that put over Mox's top dog persona wonderfully; he was skilled and hard enough to separate Brian Cage's bicep muscle from the bone in a scorching submissions-heavy sequence. Darby Allin's return angle conspired to be hot in front of no fans, creating a sense of occasion around what was a glorified Dynamite.

Sonny Kiss entered a performance of real substance in the opener, showing far more than his trademark stylistic flourishes, but the opposite was true of the disappointing FTR Vs. Lucha Bros. styles clash. That was an awkward let-down, though it flashed its immense potential at various points. Kenny Omega hinted at the Cleaner within by annihilating Marko Stunt in the far better spot-fest/storytelling hybrid that was the Elite Vs. Jurassic Express.

Marred by a flat atmosphere and big expectations raised by the quasi-PPV show name, Fight For The Fallen, if nothing else, was a very neat strategic means of delivering a special as a Great American Bash counter-strike.
