Every Major AEW Show RANKED From Worst To Best

9. Fyter Fest 2019

A distinctly B-show-feeling follow-up to the instantly seminal Double Or Nothing, Fyter Fest was nonetheless very, very good for the most part.

An early glimpse into an exhausting future, in which AEW is scrutinised to the point of hysteria, materialised with a botched chair shot to Cody's head. What was pitched as a very transgressive spot - AEW conceived it with full knowledge of its legacy - actually felt that way in the moment. The fairly obvious modification didn't stem the furore, and the money mark nepotism of the appalling Jebailey Vs. Michael Nakazawa "Hardcore" match was only remotely appealing to the live crossover audience.

This Shawn Spears turn rather took away from an exceptional and important Darby Allin breakout performance and the establishment of the time-limit draw AEW could do with revisiting very soon.

The Elite Vs. The Lucha Bros. and last-minute replacement Laredo Kid was exhilarating, though it didn't build and build relentlessly like the best matches in that genre. Too often, we were allowed to collect our breath. A more than serviceable undercard yielded a phenomenal MJF promo and a cruel look at the positively enchanting joshi standouts Riho and Yuka Sakazaki.

Jon Moxley Vs. Joey Janela was a very good and very squeamish main event that cemented future Ace Mox as an exponentially more dangerous proposition than Dean Ambrose - and AEW itself as something more brutal than the odd ladder stunt on a gimmick match PPV.
