AJ Lee and Paige never really had a great match did they?

I'm not entirely sure why, but for two individuals who were considered two of the finest female wrestlers of a generation it will be an eternal disappointment that they couldn't produce anything more than a decent, at best, match. Was it a chemistry issue? Were they saddled with a story that made matches difficult?

I'd wager yes on the latter. By the time SummerSlam 2014 came around these two were knee-deep in the 'Frenemy' story, a word that I am now dismayed doesn't come with a red squiggly line underneath it after I type it. Paige had made her debut the night after WrestleMania as a face, but by the time it was Summer Party time she was a heel.

Turns, turns, turns...

The match itself? It was fine. Decent, fine, alright, not too shabby. Alright. There were a couple of creative spots, not least Paige dropping AJ throat-first over the barricade from her shoulders, but all in all this match passed without any real excitement.

Paige picked up the win following the Rampaige, and the story continued.
