6. Team Paige (2014)

By 2014, the wrestling world desperately needed Stephanie McMahon to finish her work and finally invent proper women's wrestling. It was in a sorry state, a messy melange of cat-fights and lingerie, a disastrous disrespecting of the immensely talented women involved. AJ Lee, Paige, Natalya and others deserved so much more than what they were given.

Team Paige was swept at the 2014 Survivor Series, a show best remembered for Sting sauntering down to the ring as the corpses of Dolph Ziggler and Seth Rollins lay motionless for at least a week. The future Twitch icon was joined on her eponymous team by Layla, Cameron and Summer Rae, a great example of WWE's reluctance to embrace family names.

As far as women's Survivor Series teams go, this was a pretty miserable collection. Paige was and is great but 2014 Layla was on the way out, while Summer Rae was still relatively early into her pro wrestling journey. Layla and Summer had actually spent much of the summer feuding over who was the better dance partner for Fandango. Nope, no typos there.

Thank you, Stephanie McMahon, thank you.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
