Every WCW Halloween Havoc Ranked Worst To Best
3. 1993
The first earnestly very good Halloween Havoc show went down in the event's fourth year, with the Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal gimmick redeemed following the Coal Miner's Glove debacle.
Cactus Jack vs. Big Van Vader was left to chance this time. Their stipulation? A Texas Deathmatch. Outstanding. A brutal ripper of a brawl, it felt as unhinged and reckless as any other time these two madmen shared a ring in WCW, and if you've got the stomach for it, it's hard to argue its position alongside the greatest matches in WCW history. Your writer would have it at number two in Halloween Havoc history, at least - behind a bout we'll talk about later on.
There's good stuff elsewhere as Paul Orndorff wrestles Ricky Steamboat, Steve Austin and Dustin Rhodes once again contest the United States Title, and the Nasty Boys face Marcus Bagwell and the perenially underrated 2 Cold Scorpio. Also, The Shockmaster wrestles in the opener, so there's your slice of funny-bad.
Havoc '93's only major disappointment was Rick Rude vs. Ric Flair. A quick glance at the participants suggests a top quality match, though this thing fell way short of expectations, with no connective tissue between the bigger moments.
