6. Goldberg Vs. Scott Hall - Souled Out

A big deal here in 1999, as Goldberg and Scott Hall went one-on-one in the very first Taser ladder match! Yeah, tasers were a big deal in World Championship Wrestling I guess, as Goldberg's incredible win streak came to an end thanks to one. This was also the main event of the Souled Out PPV, a largely forgettable joint venture between WCW and the nWo.

Watching this match back now is a strange experience. It certainly isn't Dean Malenko vs. Eddie Guerrero, but the fact that the crowd go absolute apesh*t for anything and everything Goldberg does really adds something to the whole thing. Hall manages to hold it together for the majority of the bout too.

This is a bit like going to the dentist and coming out with clean teeth and a sticker. You expect the worst, but in the end it is all just kind of okay. Not bad. It'll do.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
