5. Bam Bam Bigelow, Bastion Booger & The Headshrinkers - 1993

This one saddens me a little bit. I consider Bam Bam Bigelow to be one of the most underrated wrestlers of all time, and for sure up there whenever any discussion about 'big men' is being had. The 1990s were a peculiar time for Bam Bam, and 1993 saw him feuding with Doink the Clown. Let it be said that if you were feuding with babyface Doink the Clown, things didn't bode too well. As it was, Doink wasn't involved in this match. No, we got four Doinks; Mabel (Viscera) and Mo of Men on a Mission alongside the Bushwackers, all with Doink masks on. Bigelow's team wasn't so terrible actually, if you are able to look past the terrible Bastion Booger gimmick. The Headshrinkers were a good tag team for the era, Booger was portrayed by Mike Shaw (no slouch, despite the gimmick) and Bigelow was Bigelow. What happened was 10 minutes of comedy, with eliminations after biting into balloons, slipping on banana peels and being faked out by confetti. I was eight years old at the time and maybe I found it funny, but this leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. All four performers deserved more than this.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
