Every Wrestler At AEW Double Or Nothing 2019 - Where Are They Now?

15. Awesome Kong

AEW

Awesome Kong was the first surprise of AEW's history, making an unannounced appearance to battle in a Fatal 4-Way.

Kong is a legend, plain and simple. Alongside Gail Kim, she revolutionised women's wrestling in the US at a time when WWE just weren't taking it seriously. Fans thought she was done with wrestling, so were pleasantly surprised to see her in Las Vegas.

However, this was not to last.

The alliance she formed with Brandi Rhodes on this show lasted into the TV era when they formed the ill-fated "Nightmare Collective". The group - which also consisted of Mel and (for some reason) deathmatch legend, Dr. Luther - were set on converting members to their group by... collecting hair samples? Look, it's been months and we still don't friggin' know what this storyline was about.

This was roundly hated by the AEW crowd - easily the worst-received angle in the company's short history. It was quietly dropped, helped by the fact that Kong went off to film the new season of GLOW.

Her final match for the company came when she defeated Skylar Moore on the 10th January episode of Dark. Apparently she injured herself in that match, so we'll have to wait to see if she ever comes back to AEW.
