If Jack Swagger hadn't been so monumentally dumb and been arrested in the early stages of the big push that would have made him for life, this could have worked. The feud made sense and was bizarrely progressive for WWE, but once Swagger got cuffed it was done for. Not only did he damage himself, but he pretty much put the kaibosh on any hope WWE had for Alberto Del Rio as a face.

This was going to be a three-way with World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler also involved, but Swagger's heavy-handedness put paid to that. As it was, this became a #1 Contender's I Quit match, and good lord was it slow and boring. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good either.

The main problem (aside from the general lack of heat in the feud) was that Mike Chioda deemed it necessary to throw the microphone in both men's faces after each move to see if they had had enough. Yes, as if Alberto Del Rio is going to give up after a collar and elbow tie-up. It got old quick, and it was born old.

Del Rio won after a bullsh*t ending involving Zeb Colter and a towel. Avoid.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
