I love The Miz, I really do, but his character has never been one who should find himself in an 'I Quit' match. Miz is the sort who should find himself put in one and proceed to audibly gulp and say 'aaah, I may be in a pickle now'. Luckily, that is exactly what happened here, but it was a case of a feud escalating to a level it never quite warranted.

It was never plausible that Miz was going to make John Cena say 'I Quit', but that was only the first of the many problems this match had. From the get-go it was a glorified handicap match thanks to the involvement of Alex Riley, and it was blindingly obvious that this was going be yet another time that Big Match John overcame the odds.

Add in a horrible attempt at rehashing the Rocky/Foley finish from Royal Rumble 1999 and you just have one big old mess on your hands. Cena wins because obviously he does, but The Miz lost more than the match here. This was the end of the man as a genuine main event attraction.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
