Every WWE 5 Star Match Ranked
4. Razor Ramon Vs. Shawn Michaels (WrestleMania X)
While Bret and Owen certainly had amazing matches at SummerSlam 1994 and WrestleMania X, they were ultimately overshadowed in the year by Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon, who introduced the ladder match to a worldwide audience.
Granted, they didn't invent the match, and in fact, Bret Hart had a match with Shawn that never aired at the time it was held in 1992. However, it was mates Michaels and Ramon who brought the stipulation to all of WWE's attention with an instant classic.
If you've never seen this match before and are accustomed to modern WWE ladder matches, you might reasonably be worried this one doesn't hold up to modern standards. Thankfully, this match is unlike your standard Money in the Bank affair. Not having to build things around elaborate spots, Michaels and Ramon instead focused on having a great in-ring wrestling match that told a perfect story. This isn't really a ladder match: it's a wrestling match that has a ladder in it.
While it could be argued that Michaels carried Hall throughout the contest, it cannot be denied he delivered a flawless performance, and earned his first 5 star rating (though not his last).
