Every WWE Backlash Main Event Ranked Worst To Best
5. Randy Orton Vs. Jinder Mahal (2017)
The main event of this SmackDown-oriented Backlash might look a little strange on card, but it really worked. The Modern Day Maharaja was propelled into the spotlight, and now was the time for him to prove his worth. As far as this match was concerned, everything snapped together neatly, and the wrestling was top notch. Were the crowd divided? Yes. But they were also electrified. Those who weren't paying attention to Jinder Mahal before, certainly were at this point.
Kudos also goes out to The Viper. As well as being a vet of almost 15 years, who'd had more than his fair share of breaks, Orton was able to prove that he was still worth the price of a ticket. Skip to this from his Legend Killer years and you can witness an athlete fully capable of improving with age.
Even though Jinder won the title by being a bit of a cheat, which wasn't really necessary given his ability, this was a great put-over for him, and dumbfounded audiences in the best possible way. It's a shame that the momentum didn't sustain itself for very long after this extremely decent event.
