10. Triple H Vs. Batista (2005)

Long after the dust had settled on Evolution, Batista was billed as a top draw, and a self-made man. From that angle, it probably makes sense that he'd have to go through The Game, who incidentally, was in the main event of Backlash... again.

As far as wrestling goes, there isn't much to complain about. Batista is a notable monster, and Triple H is no featherweight either, so as one can imagine, there are some impressive feats of strength on display, but this also loses a lot of points for atmosphere. For the most part, the crowd seemed a little divided. Having Ric Flair offer up the occasional cheap shot does nothing for the match, and the closing act is deeply unsatisfying.

The ref gets knocked out, which means there's no count for Triple H's pin. Classic right? Except that The Game was supposed to be the heel of the piece. Without the scripted hiccup, he would have supposedly won clean. For that reason alone, Batista's eventual victory is tinted. The purpose of the main event it seemed, was to make somebody look good, but nobody's quite sure who.
