Every WWE Backlash World Title Match Ranked From Worst To Best

7. The Undertaker Vs Edge (2008)

The Undertaker and Edge's WrestleMania 24 was the best straight singles match either had had up to that point (and may have been Edge's best ever), which left their Backlash 2008 rematch just a month later little chance of outdoing their 'Show of Shows' masterclass.

Their Backlash encounter is a forgotten gem amongst their historic clashes in 2008, with the 'Showcase of the Immortals' classic nearly matched by TLC and Hell In A Cell wars later in the year.

By comparison, this straight wrestling match with Edge back on chasing duties almost looks too pedestrian for the pair, but represents just how stellar both men were when potentially restricted by the traditional confines of a contest.

Comfortably outperforming the fatal four-way WWE Title match set to follow it, 'The Rated-R Superstar' and 'The Deadman' played mouse and cat respectively, with Edge employing the help of his entourage of goons in a vain attempt to wrestle the title back from the new champion.

Winning for the second time with his gogoplata submission hold, Undertaker forced the challenger out on a stretcher with internal injuries, encouraging corrupt SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero to strip 'The Deadman' of the title mere days later.
