The first clash for a title that has proven to be snakebit over the years, Finn Bálor's victory cursed him into suffering a lifetime of defeats after being injured by Seth Rollins' spectacular Buckle Bomb to the guardrail. Every reign since has suffered the indignity of bad booking (Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins), extended absence (Goldberg, Brock Lesnar) or both (Roman Reigns). And Bálor never made it back.
