Cashing in his Money in the Bank contract, The Miz assaulted Orton’s knees as the crowd jeered. Reversing an RKO into a Skull-crushing Finale, The Awesome One began his one and only WWE Championship reign.

While it was hard to believe The Miz as a credible champion, it played well into his gimmick. He wasn’t technically gifted, but he was a braggadocious big mouth who lived to irritate people. Having The Miz win in this fashion worked incredibly well; he just held onto the title for far too long afterwards.
