How He Won It: Alberto Del Rio won the Raw brand Money in the Bank match at the superlative pay-per-view of the same name. ADR managed to outlast Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Alex Riley, 2010 winner The Miz, Evan Bourne and Jack Swagger.

Del Rio as winner was a pretty obvious choice, but the right one.

What He Did With It: Del Rio actually tried to cash-in on CM Punk following the Second City Saint's rousing WWE Title triumph over John Cena in the main event. At the behest of Vince McMahon, Del Rio sprinted to the ring to dry and get one over on an exhausted Punk, but he was fought off and Punk escaped through the crowd.

The Mexican aristocrat would have to wait until next months SummerSlam to cash-in, when he did manage to down Punk following interference from Kevin Nash, of all people. Del Rio then lost the title to Cena at the next PPV, Night of Champions, restoring the natural order of things.

Effect On Career: Not a great deal. WWE were already pushing Del Rio strong and while this gave him some material as a heel, his first reign wasn't significant and the MITB win was pretty much forgotten as he continue to feud with Punk and Cena.
