10. Alberto Del Rio (2011)

During his two runs in WWE, Alberto Del Rio was paradoxically one of their most decorated superstars, and yet, a stunning underachiever. Much of that can be blamed on a year like 2011, which saw him as the victim of two major stop-start pushes.

First, he won the 40-man Royal Rumble, but then lost to Edge in the opening match at WrestleMania 27. He was eventually traded to RAW, where he won their MiTB contract, which he cashed in on CM Punk the following month at SummerSlam.

He would then drop the belt a month later to John Cena at Night of Champions... and then he would win it back weeks later at Hell in a Cell... but then, after one title defense, he dropped it to Punk at Survivor Series. Oh, Vince Russo, it’s nice to know WWE will often pay tribute to your booking style, and not just with terrible retreads of "This is Your Life."

Del Rio could have been a major star with the company. He had a good look, he could wrestle, and when he had the right feud and motivation, he could be captivating. Unfortunately, his Mr. Money in the Bank run indicates a lack of commitment on WWE’s part to making him a true main-eventer.
