Every WWE Release Of 2021 - Where Are They Now? (Five Years Later)

6. Top Dolla

Then: Time to complete the story on botched WWE main roster act (twice!) Hit Row. In many respects, Top Dolla was the face of the faction. He did a lot of the talking, basically. That was definitely the case when Triple H tried them on for size again in August 2022. Dolla became a butt of jokes for Michael Cole on commentary, but it did look for all the world like the company would put things right following their disastrous 2021 experiment.

Not quite. He was released again in September 2023.

Now: Remarkably, Dolla (as AJ Francis) has reappeared in WWE's system, but only as a one off on the 17 June 2025 edition of NXT. There, he teamed with Trick Williams and Wes Lee in a losing effort to Elijah, Yoshiki Inamura and Josh Briggs. The call didn't come back in for more work on NXT, Raw or SmackDown after that.

The bulk of AJ's work has come under TNA's watch since 2024. The strange thing about that is...well, WWE and TNA have a close working relationship, so it's kinda/almost/sort of like Francis is still on WWE's books. He isn't, but it still feels like he's in the same ballpark.

Former NFL player Francis (he played for teams like the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins; who are now known as the Commanders) is still a part of TNA's weekly programming since Impact jumped to AMC this past January.

He might get another crack at WWE someday, but not as part of Hit Row. The ship has sailed on that bad boy.
