5. Edge Vs. Chris Jericho Vs. Batista - 2004

2004 was a strange time for all three men in this match.

Chris Jericho and Edge were getting dangerously close to midcard purgatory for life status by this point, with a strong argument being made for Jericho already being there. Edge, who had recently returned from a major neck injury, was having yet another secondary title run that meant not a jot, and it wouldn't be until mid-2005 that things began to fall into place for him.

Batista would also evolve in 2005, but at this point he was still a big, green worker with little going for him outside of his intensity and association with Evolution. SummerSlam 2004 took place in Toronto but the crowd are heavily behind Jericho in this match, choosing to support Y2J over the hometown champ.

This is fairly generic for a triple threat match, with all three guys getting their stuff in and the latter half featuring a lot of near-falls and submission attempts broken up by the third man. Everything about it is fine, but that is it. Fine, fine fine. Not great or anything. Fine.

Edge wins after spearing Jericho. Another Intercontinental Championship triple threat at SummerSlam that could only really be described as being 'unremarkable'.
