Every WWE SummerSlam Triple Threat Match Ranked - From Worst To Best
2. The Rock Vs. Kurt Angle Vs. Triple H - 2000
For the second straight year SummerSlam was headlined by a triple threat match, but the individual parts of this match make for something far better. Triple H returned, but joining him in headlining the first SummerSlam of the new millennium was The Rock and Kurt Angle. A retired legend and a disinterested rattlesnake this was not.
Rocky and Hunter's chemistry is well documented, and whenever they were working together during their prime years you could guarantee something special. When you throw Kurt Angle into the mix, arguably experiencing the greatest rookie year in wrestling history (at that point anyway), the guarantee became a promise.
It isn't perfect, far from it, and an ugly botched Pedigree through the announce table takes Angle out of proceedings for the first portion of the match. This leads to some timing issues and a strange lethargy to the match, but these guys were pros (to say the least) and figure it out.
The finish is every bit as manic and thrilling as you'd expect from WWE in 2000, as The Rock takes advantage of Angle's good work to pin Triple H following a People's Elbow. Steph gets involved beforehand, getting knocked off the apron accidentally by her husband as she tried to help the Olympic Hero.
SummerSlam 2000 was a great show, in that three great matches really can make a show. This was the third of those matches.
