Every WWE Survivor Series Ranked - From Worst To Best
21. 1999
The 13th edition of Survivor Series was another notable one, as in the early stages of the evening Stone Cold Steve Austin was run over by an unknown assailant, putting him out of action indefinitely. Big Show would replace Austin in the triple threat main event (also featuring Triple H and The Rock), picking up the victory and his first WWF Championship in the process.
Big Show also won a 4-on-1 elimination match earlier in the night, destroying Big Boss Man, Prince Albert, Mideon & Viscera in under two minutes. Chyna defended her Intercontinental Championship against Chris Jericho in a match the latter claimed he tried to forget, and there were a number of other similarly forgettable matches dotted throughout.
Kurt Angle made his in-ring debut that night, defeating the frankly terrible Shawn Stasiak. It was a signpost evening for sure, but the action throughout the show only ever ranged from bad to not good.
20. 2008
The 2008 Survivor Series featured an immensely miffed-looking John Cena on the promotional poster, a sight that was the polar opposite of how he ended the show itself. On that night Cena defeated Chris Jericho to become World Heavyweight Champion, somewhat undoing all the great work done by Jericho and Shawn Michaels earlier in the year.
Elsewhere, Edge shockingly won the WWE Championship after Vickie Guerrero entered him into the title match between Triple H and Vladimir Kozlov (HAH!) that was ongoing, a surprise that nobody saw coming and lifted an otherwise dull undercard.
The Undertaker defeated Big Show in a casket match that you shouldn't look up, and Team Orton (Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Shelton Benjamin, Mark Henry, William Regal) defeated Team Batista (Batista, CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, Matt Hardy, R-Truth) in what an underrated elimination match.
19. 1987
This might be a ranking based purely on nostalgia, but the first ever Survivor Series is an enjoyable event. Only four matches made the card, all elimination bouts, with the centrepiece being a 37 minute 10-on-10 tag team elimination match featuring the entire tag division at the time
The main event saw the team of Hulk Hogan, Paul Orndorff, Don Muraco, Ken Patera and Bam Bam Bigelow come up short against Andre the Giant, One Man Gang, King Kong Bundy, Butch Reed and Rick Rude, with Andre the sole survivor.
The show was a lot of fun and is worth revisiting to try and feel the nostalgia factor once again.
