Everything You Need To Know About The NWA's 70th Anniversary Pay-Per-View
3. Two Out Of Three Falls Main Event
Two out of three falls matches are one of the most grueling bouts a competitor can take part in. While not guaranteed to be a long, testing affair -- like an one hour Iron Man contest -- these matches often are. Furthermore, the stipulation is straight from the NWA's traditional past and until the 1970's was almost always used to determine the organization's champion.
Matches like Dory Funk Jr. against Jack Brisco and Lou Thesz versus Buddy Rogers were instant classic contests. In fact, Rogers' controversial one fall championship loss to Thesz in 1963 was a major catalyst for the original "Nature Boy" and the World Wide Wrestling Federation to break away from the Alliance.
Meanwhile, Nick Aldis has frequently complained since ALL IN about Brandi Rhodes' interference and the referee's refusal to end the match when Cody spent minutes bleeding outside the ring. Not only will NWA 70's championship contest hark back to the promotion's early history but will also hopefully negate any potential controversies about its finish. After one of the competitors wins two falls, a definitive champion for the National Wrestling Alliance's future will be determined.
