Evolve's Kali Armstrong Seen As "Future WrestleMania Main Eventer" (WWE News)
Current Evolve Women's Champion has turned heads in WWE. NXT debut pending?
Fightful Select is reporting that reigning Evolve Women's Champion Kali Armstrong has been impressing all the right folks in WWE lately. The site's write-up confirmed that Armstrong had received "high marks" for her performances on recent Evolve tapings, and there are even some within WWE who view her as a potential "future WrestleMania main eventer".
That's high praise indeed.
Kali is expected to make the jump from Evolve shows to the main NXT brand sooner rather than later, but there's no definitive timeline in place for the leap quite yet. It does look like it's coming though. The 30-year old worker has been turning heads. Armstrong won the Evolve Women's Title on 25 April by beating Kendal Grey, Wendy Choo and Kylie Rae in a four-way elimination bout.
For reference, WWE doesn't recognise the title reign as beginning until 28 May. That's when the show aired.
Fightful expects Armstrong to get a call up to core WWE television whilst still holding that belt. So, in other words, the Evolve Women's Title could be featured on episodes of NXT soon. It'll be interesting to see whether or not WWE keeps that around, or if they have Kali drop it to somebody else quickly so she can focus on the main NXT prizes.
Kali signed with the company in October 2023, and she has worked a fair number of NXT house shows in between sporadic appearances on the brand's Level Up offering. Becoming a regular on NXT proper could lead to even bigger successes on either Raw or SmackDown in the future.
Certain WWE officials backstage think she has a shot at going all the way to the biggest spot possible: Headlining WrestleMania.
