Ex-WWE Star Admits Turning Down AEW For The First Time (WWE News)
This former WWE man turned down the chance to join The Hurt Syndicate in AEW.
Cedric Alexander has officially confirmed that he knocked back the chance to join Tony Khan's AEW and link up with some old buddies on episodes of Dynamite and Collision. The former WWE star told Busted Open Radio (reported via @WrestlePurists on X) that he said no to a Hurt Business/Hurt Syndicate reunion.
The one time Hurt Business member admits he was happy to see MVP, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin doing their thing as part of the All Elite roster, but then Alexander stopped to think about things for a second. Did he want to rejoin his old stablemates and fade into the background, or did he want to stand on his own merits and rebuild his own career?
Cedric plumped for the latter choice, and he doesn't regret it.
He pointed out that guys like Porter, Lashley and Benjamin are "finishing their careers" with THS on AEW screens. Meanwhile, he reckons he still has 10-15 years left in him as a full-time worker. Alexander wasn't particularly interested in becoming background noise on a stacked roster, so he's struck out on his own via TNA and on the independent scene.
The last thing he wants is for people to say something like: "All he did was Hurt Business stuff".
So, to recap, doing his own thing is clearly very important to Alexander, but he did appreciate his time in such a cherished faction under WWE's umbrella. Now, the former Cruiserweight Champion is fully focused on carving his own path rather than sharing the spotlight with old friends.
