Ex-WWE Star Thinks Drake Maverick's Angle Is "A Slap In The Face"

One released talent isn't happy with WWE's storytelling...

Drake Maverick

Former WWE man Lio Rush vented his frustrations on Twitter after watching the latest episode of NXT.

The recently-released star was miffed to see Drake Maverick sign a new contract on camera with Triple H and then tearfully celebrate his official comeback. Some other fans watching expressed the same concerns that WWE were using real-life heartache to sell a storyline.

Rush described the angle as "kind of a slap in the face to use this as a shoot work", but said he's "not surprised" that WWE would do something like this so soon after releasing a bunch of talents in mid-April.

The former Cruiserweight Champion did say that he's also "super happy for anyone getting their job back", though he does think the "real trauma" of so many shouldn't have been exploited. When someone asked if he'd like to make a WWE return, Lio replied, "Who said I wanted to be back?" before adding, "It’s not Spud's (Maverick's) fault - it’s the companies, and it’s disgusting".

Later, Rush again reiterated his annoyance by tweeting out that WWE were "literally making a mockery of legitimate firings".
