Extreme Rules: John Cena vs Ryback And The Dangers For The WWE

In the Ring

Ryback For many people this is the elephant in the room. John Cena's in ring work is not as awful as some would claim, but on the other hand he does seem to need a someone who is preferably quicker. It seems no coincidence that the best matches in Cena's career are against smaller, agile guys who can sell his explosive comeback moves while driving the story the rest of the time- such as HBK, Edge and CM Punk . His two Wrestlemania matches with the Rock- while OK- have been overshadowed by the Streak matches which to some have been the true main events of 'Manias 28 and 29. Furthermore, Cena is infamous amongst the IWC for not selling- which could make Ryback extremely difficult to push as a monster heel. And Ryback? Well, his best singles work has also been against a smaller man in CM Punk- who managed to sell Ryback as a monster during his 434 day title WWE title reign. But against other big men? Well if the match against Mark Henry is anything to go by, it could get very boring, very quickly. One saving grace will be the fact that they are facing off at Extreme Rules- which means that in ring technique can take a back seat to some sort of bloody brawl. This will suit the slow pace of both wrestlers and will allow both plenty of time to tell a story without any fancy mover- just brutality. But now we need to turn our attention to the future...
