Former WWE Champion To Debut At AEW All In?
This multi-time World Champion may be in action at AEW All In.
No, not Bill Goldberg. But could Rob Van Dam be about to make his AEW debut at this month's All In PPV from London's Wembley Stadium?
As per Fightful Select, there have been internal discussions about bringing the Whole F'N Show to All Elite Wrestling.
Though not confirmed, these talks have included the idea of RVD facing FTW Champion Jack Perry at either All In on 27 August or All Out on 3 September.
Of course, last week saw the former Jungle Boy lambast ECW as a promotion, which in turn caught the ire of Jerry Lynn. With Lynn having confronted Perry, those two are set to have another face-to-face on tonight's AEW Dynamite.
On top of the Jerry Lynn stuff, Jack has also been eager to rile up Taz, with Perry rubbing salt in the wounds at having beaten the Human Suplex Machine's son Hook for the one and the same belt that Taz created back during his ECW days.
If AEW is looking at ex-ECW talent who could wrestle Jack Perry, there are no better options than Rob Van Dam right now. In the case of Jerry Lynn, the severity of previous injuries and, in particular, neck issues would suggest he won't be able to compete in a proper match against Perry - either tonight or at a later date.
Once you take Lynn off the table, the net of big-name ECW stars who are still active is a thin one. Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer are two candidates, whilst there's always the possibility of bringing Sabu back after his bizarre Double or Nothing cameo earlier this year, and even former ECW World Champions such as Raven and the Sandman have been active in-ring in 2023.
Where Rob Van Dam is concerned, he last wrestled back in April, where he defeated Channing Decker for the Pennsylvania-based International Wrestling Cartel. In a career which began in 1990, Van Dam has gone on to have major success in ECW, WWE, TNA/IMPACT, and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021.
