FOX End Kevin Dunn's Crazy Camera Cuts On WWE SmackDown

Dunn's signature frantic camerawork was nowhere to be seen on last night's show.

Last night's WWE SmackDown season premiere on FOX brought several major aesthetic changes to WWE's new default A-show, including new AC/DC-soundtrack opening credits, a distinct new set design, and a number of notable production switch-ups.

Finally, mercifully, it looks like days of Kevin Dunn's schizophrenic camera direction are over - at least on the blue brand.

SmackDown was lacking in the much-maligned Executive Vice President's mania-inducing array of sudden cuts and zooms. It was much less of a jarring viewing experience as a result, and while there's no word on what may have sparked this new direction, some are already speculating that FOX killed the Dunnisms.

Dunn has been an important part of the McMahon family's wrestling empire since 1984, when he was hired by Vince Sr.

Initially working as an associate producer, he rose in power and prominence as the years progressed, becoming a line producer in 1987, producer of domestic television in '89, and a supervisor of all television four years later. Today, he sits as Executive Vice President of Television Production and a member of WWE's Broad of Directors for 11 years, having deeply entrenched himself inside the company.
