The artist formerly known as Giovanni Vinci in WWE has finally returned to pro wrestling screens via TNA. The ex-Imperium member reverted to his old Fabian Aichner name to debut on the 14 May edition of Impact, and he was booked strongly to kick off his TNA career.

Aichner debuted shortly after Cedric Alexander had beaten Leon Slater to become the brand new TNA X Division Champion. Alexander's celebrations were cut short by Fabian's arrival, and it now looks certain that he'll challenge for the gold sometime soon.

The one time SmackDown man could even be added to an already-scheduled Ultimate X match due to happen next month. It's either that or he goes one on one with Cedric before then - over to you, TNA bookers!

Slater came close to becoming the longest reigning X Division Champ in history before he lost a '2 Out Of 3 Falls' bout to Alexander. His 298 day reign has never been bettered, but it has been matched by Austin Aries (who held it for the same timeframe between 2011-2012). Beneath that, the nearest contender is Moose at 266 days.

Cedric will be doing well if his own run comes anywhere close to that.

Aichner hadn't been seen since being unceremoniously dumped by WWE following a solo rebrand on SmackDown. His last televised match was a 90 second loss to Apollo Crews on the 20 September 2024 episode of blue brand telly, but he did work a few dark matches after that.

Officially, Vinci's final bout as a WWE contracted performer was a dark match loss to Luke Gallows before the 13 December 2024 SmackDown.
