WWE legend The Undertaker attracted considerable flak for his comments on modern wrestling last week, claiming the WWE product had become “kinda soft" and hard for him to enjoy, doing so while appearing on the Joe Rogan Experience.

The current locker-room came into ‘Taker’s crosshairs as well. “I liked when men were men,” he said, romanticising an era when wrestlers had “guns and knives” in the locker-room rather than the video games of today.

Goldberg has now added his voice to that side of the argument. A recent appearance on Corey Graves’ After the Bell podcast saw him agree that compared to his era, “the business is soft in 2021, so things have to change and things have to be different”, adding the following (h/t Inside the Ropes for the transcription):-

“Times are different than they were back then but people are soft and people take offence way too quickly. Get a little thicker skin, boys and girls. That’s all I can say. When legends came back when I was in the business, in the beginning, I was greatly appreciative of the eyes they brought to our product, and one day those young kids are going to be just like me and I hope karma comes back to bite them in the ass. That’s all I can say, because at 54 years old, I don’t know one of them that could be doing what I do.”

Goldberg did, however, praise Royal Rumble 2021 opponent Drew McIntyre for “forcing” his way up the card, becoming a locker-room leader, and earning his shot. The duo meet with McIntyre’s WWE Title on the line this Sunday.
