Guardians Of The Galaxy's Batista Defends Fired Director James Gunn
Drax is "not OK" with decision.
Perhaps you didn't hear, but Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn was fired this past week after offensive tweets of his were unearthed. Gunn issued a swift apology for his past social media indiscretion - which included jokes about rape and paeodophilia - but Disney were nevertheless moved to relieve him from his role on Friday.
Former WWE superster and blue-beret fashion icon Dave 'Batista' Bautista, who plays Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians franchise, was not happy with the decision.
In a fiery tweet of his own, Big Dave vented:
I will have more to say but for right now all I will say is this.. [James Gunn] is one of the most loving, caring, good natured people I have ever met. He is gentle and kind and cares deeply for people and animals. He's made mistakes. We all have.. Im [sic] NOT ok with what's happening to him.
So it's a big thumbs down from Batista then.
Since they resurfaced, Gunn has deleted the tweets, though nothing is lost forever in the age of the internet. Users quickly screengrabbed the offending posts, creating a career millstone for the director he'll spend the next few years shaking off.
