WWE has been on/off obsessed with the doppelgänger thing for decades. They tried it with Kane in 2006, but first dabbled with the gimmick for SummerSlam 1994. There, someone had the bright idea of putting The Undertaker vs. Brian Lee in his Halloween costume above Bret vs. Owen Hart in a cage on the card.

Main event, baby.

Worse, The Undertaker vs. "Underfaker" bout was actually supposed to be longer than it turned out. According to legend, Bret and Owen tacked a few more minutes onto their thumping cage war, which meant 'Taker and 'Faker had to shave some time off their headliner. What a shame.

The Undertaker could've justifiably asked the company if they were trolling him by the summer of 1994. He'd already lived through dreadful feuds vs. Kamala, The Giant Gonzalez and Yokozuna. Post-doppelgänger bit, he'd have to contend with King Kong Bundy and Mabel.

Bless those folks in Chicago for sticking around once Bret and Owen hit the showers.
