Of course, while honouring contracts is something Tony Khan should be commended for, that also brings with it certain problems with it comes to the actual size of your roster. For instance, if your talent pool is never trimmed, the roster size will just keep on growing and growing with each and every new face that joins your promotion.

At present, the official AllEliteWrestling.com roster listing features a total of 130 male talents and 34 female talents. With Dark and Dark: Elevation having now been scrapped, that leaves just three hours per week of in-ring AEW action to be spread across those 164 talents.

WWE has rightly been criticised at times for stockpiling personnel and having way more wrestlers than needed to fill regular TV time, but at least the market leader has five hours of main roster television per week, plus two hours of NXT and even the weekly Main Event show.

Of course, Tony Khan owns Ring of Honor, so that's another two hours of TV that's filled by some of the 164 names listed on AEW.com, but a sizeable chunk of those two hours often feature non-contracted talents who are simply there to do the J.O.B. for the bigger names.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic.
