With the wrestling world still reeling from John Cena's shocking heel turn at WWE Elimination Chamber last weekend, there's now an update on how those within WWE reacted to this monumental swerve.

As per Sean Ross Sapp over at Fightful Select, the reaction of a lot of those in WWE was "pleasant shock". While some thought a Cena heel turn was possible, they simply thought it was something that would never actually happen. There is said to be a lot of excitement from those on the WWE roster at this turn, mainly because it's the sort of newsworthy twist that inevitably brings more eyes to the WWE product.

That heel turn saw John Cena sell his soul to The Rock, joining forces with the Final Boss after Cody Rhodes had told Rocky to go "f**k yourself". Fresh from winning the men's Elimination Chamber and cementing himself a WrestleMania 41 match against Rhodes for the WWE Championship, Cena was initially all smiles and hugs, him and Cody showing mutual respect for each other as we seemed geared for a classic Babyface vs. Babyface bout at 'Mania. And then, well then, Big Match John's mood changed, his face dropping to a stoney, serious one after hugging Rhodes. From there, a swift kick to Cody's balls from Cena sent shockwaves across the industry, as the 16-time World Champion joined The Rock - and even Travis Scott - in putting a beating on Cody and leaving him bloodied.

Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena At WWE WrestleMania 41

We've yet to hear from any of Cody Rhodes, John Cena, or The Rock at WWE programming since the shocking events of Elimination Chamber.

For Cody, he'll be addressing all of this on SmackDown tomorrow night. As for Cena, according to The Rock in the post-Elimination Chamber media scrum, John's in Africa filming his latest movie. It's worth noting that Cena isn't advertised for any WWE TV this week or next. Where The Rock is concerned, who knows when the Great One will resurface. It could be as soon as this week's SmackDown or Monday's Raw, or it could be a few weeks down the line. Basically, whenever Rock feels like coming down from Rock Mountain to stir the pot for WrestleMania 41.

In fact, the only person to really comment on the John Cena heel turn is long-time Cena rival CM Punk. While the pair may have shared a warm hug mid-match at Elimination Chamber, the post-Chamber Raw saw the Second City Saint open the show in blistering fashion, running down both Cena and Rock, calling them out as "bald frauds", throwing shade at The Rock's forearm-slapping "BS", and lambasting Cena for turning his back on his millions of young fans.

One has to think there might be some repercussions for CM Punk's words at some point down the line. Whether those reprecussions occur before WrestleMania 41, though, that remains to be seen. For now, Punker's immediate future is once again entwined with Seth Rollins, with the two going to war in a steel cage at Madison Square Garden this coming Monday night. Of course, Rollins screwed the Straight-Edge Superstar at Elimination Chamber, hitting a stomp on Punk that led directly to Cena locking in the match-winning STF on the Chicagoan.
