How WrestleMania 40 Will Ruin Triple H's WWE Story

CM Punk wasn't returning... until he did.

Cody Rhodes wasn't winning back-to-back Rumbles... until he did.

The increasingly batsh*t "never say never" rule, even at a time when it seems like there is "no scenario" where Rock/Reigns isn't the Night Two conclusion at 'Mania XL, is still in play.

There are opportunities there for Levesque to still achieve some much-needed good at a time when he's found himself penning so many unwanted paragraphs into his ongoing novel in Gorilla, too - even away from The Rock potentially shrugging off Rhodes' and Trips' stories for his own.

'Papa H' still seemingly has the power to give the terrifically booked Gunther the WrestleMania showcase his world class run with the Intercontinental Championship deserves.

He could give Bayley the once unlikely Night One main event spot as a crowd-pleasing "thank you" for years of being her division's ever-reliable Horsewoman.

Stratton, Cargill, Breakker, The Creed Brothers, Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate, and the other well handled stars of tomorrow can be rewarded with the chance to establish themselves on that stadium stage.

And the countless heroes and villains (and somewhere in-between) who have carried this product back into the general public's minds - LA Knight, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Drew McIntyre, Becky Lynch, Rhea Ripley, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Jimmy & Jey Uso? Surely Trips will find a way to give them all something meaningful to do across two-nights of Moments.

As last year's Los Angeles epic highlighted, though, (ironically) it doesn't matter how hard you work and how well you book the rest of the biggest nights of the year. If you blow that ending, very few will fondly remember the rest of the story.

Put simply, so many stories are hanging in the balance coming into the most crucial press conference since... well, the last one.

Will a Rocky who once again "sucks!" get his match and WrestleMania XL end up becoming the point when folks finally lose faith in the 'King of Kings' holding the creative pen? Or will WWE find a way to somehow have their cake and eat it, too, unexpectedly salvaging a Road to WrestleMania that's becoming more volatile by the week?

Over to you, Vegas...
