How WWE Destroyed Shayna Baszler

Baszler confirmed as much herself in interviews afterwards. Her new boss just didn't get her like the old one. The matches - her style, her timing, her whole f*cking appeal - didn't make sense to the only man anything in WWE exists for. She was in bother, and television became evidence of it.

Failing to bounce back at any point in the singles ranks, Baszler was paired with Nia Jax in an effort to make them both as unstoppable as they once were. But because the company can't get out of their own way let alone script themselves out of a paper bag, the act became about how they couldn't get along.

Wacky sitcom friends who just happened to be big and tough wasn't all that engaging, but they were at least winning. Baszler and Jax won the Tag Team Championships in order to justify their existence as a team, then won them back before either character to stopped to ask why they were still bothering.

But the second reign was even worse than a dicey first, and it was determined early on that Baszler would be the weak link. Multiple defeats to pathetically inferior opponents concluded with a loss to Natalya and Tamina and another one in a rematch that kickstarted a programme between the 'Queen Of Spades' and the voodoo-powered Alexa Bliss.

Doom - real, certain doom - arrived at WrestleMania 36. But it only showed itself in full on the May 31st 2021 Monday Night Raw.
