Many have speculated that just such a move could well take place, and now IMPACT Wrestling has formally announced that it is moving its weekly flagship show to Thursday nights.

Currently, IMPACT airs on AXS TV each and every Tuesday, but that will soon be changing. As of Thursday 8 April, the weekly broadcast will switch to a Thursday 8pm ET slot on AXS. Before the IMPACT will similarly be moving to Thursdays, airing at 7pm ET as the lead-in to the main show.

For this 'first' Thursday night broadcast, the main event of AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and the Good Brothers vs. IMPACT World Champion Rich Swann, Eddie Edwards and Willie Mack has been confirmed.

In a press release, IMPACT Executive Vice President Scott D’Amore enthused:

“IMPACT Wrestling has years of history airing on Thursdays, which was the night for high-energy, action-packed matches, starring some of the most high-profile stars in pro wrestling history. Nothing is changing from that front when IMPACT! jumps back to Thursday nights.”

There’s no news if this decision was tied to those plentiful rumours of WWE shortly moving its weekly NXT broadcast to a Tuesday night slot – although, given how that would’ve put NXT directly head-to-head with IMPACT, that could well have been a major factor in IMPACT's call to change nights.
