Impact's Chris Sabin Interview: Hard To Kill, Bullet Club, Alex Shelley, AEW, And More

What's the overall atmosphere like backstage with all of the new talent coming in, especially at Slammiversary?

Sabin: It's great backstage. Everyone seems to get along, I don't see people hating on each other or talking crap about each other behind people's backs or anything like that. There's not a lot of drama. Everyone seems to get along pretty well, and that's a good thing.

Just what you want to have in a promotion. Moving on to Alex Shelley for a minute, how has the relationship with him flourished over the years?

Sabin: We've just always stayed in touch throughout the years. We love practicing together, Alex Shelley is a super smart guy, he's really good at training people. I mean, I think you always have to have an open mind to always be learning something from everyone. Working side by side with Alex Shelley, you can't help but learn.

When you and Alex came back at Slammiversary to face The Rascalz, what were you expecting?

Sabin: Man, I didn't really have any expectations because it was just a weird situation overall with the whole pandemic and all that. I was going in there with an empty arena, no crowd, and I hadn't wrestled in a while. I hadn't wrestled a match in Impact since 2014 I think was the last time I had a match with them. I was just like let's see what happens, you know, no expectations.

How long had it been planned for the return to happen at Slammiversary?

Sabin: Probably about two months ahead of time.

Just one last question now: what can we expect from Chris Sabin in 2021?

Sabin: Well, I guess just continuing to get better, hopefully helping Impact to grow, and get eyes on the product. Really, I just want to be a helpful hand with Impact, and help the company stay in business, keeping it popular to bring the old fans back. You know, I was there for eleven years before this, so hopefully, I can bring a little feeling of nostalgia for the old school Impact Wrestling fans, but at the same time still being innovative and new, and be a better wrestler and person than I was back then. Yeah, just continue to improve and get better, and continue to entertain the fans, give them an alternative wrestling product that's worthy of watching.

Impact Wrestling's Hard To Kill pay-per-view goes down this Saturday, 16 January, airing live on FITE TV and Premier Sports!
