Impact's Chris Sabin Interview: Hard To Kill, Bullet Club, Alex Shelley, AEW, And More

You mentioned earlier you've been working as a producer for Impact. How have you found this has changed your style in the ring, if it has, now that you know what goes on behind the scenes?

Sabin: A little bit. I definitely developed a little more awareness of how to present everything because you have to keep a lot in mind. When you're in the production truck, seeing what actually goes on in matches, it's pretty mind-blowing. There's a lot. You've got to be on, you've got to pay attention. It's just something to keep in mind when you're having matches.

Are you familiar with the talent at AEW?

Sabin: Yes.

If you had to pick one to come to Impact to face you, who would you choose?

Sabin: Oh boy, now that's a tough one. I think the obvious answer is Kenny [Omega]. You know, he's the World Champion over there. I've had one singles match with him in the past which was at an independent show, and that was over ten years ago, so, you know, I think I'm going to with the obvious answer, and that's Kenny.

It would be a great match I'm sure. So, last year was a bit of an odd year for Impact as there were no fans in attendance. Again, has this changed your style in-ring, having to adapt to an empty arena environment?

Sabin: Yeah, I mean, I think I try to always continuously adapt my style. As far as being aware of what feels what in my body, you know, especially with my knees, my neck, just problems that you're going to have after a twenty-year wrestling career. So, basically, I just try to adapt it to what I know I can do best, and at the same time, that's going to help contribute to my longevity in the business.

So, you've been in Impact for a while. How has the company changed over the years from when you were first there?

Sabin: I mean, it's a completely different company. I've seen it change through so many different leaderships and all that stuff, like different people in charge and all that throughout the years because I first started with them in 2003. It's 2021 now, so with a brief hiatus there, I've seen it basically become a completely new company many times throughout the years. This is just the newest iteration of what the company is.
