It’s Official: THIS Was WWE’s Most Hated Moment Of 2020

2. Roman Reigns Emerges As Next Challenger For Universal Champion Goldberg (SmackDown - 28 Feb 2020)

A truly poisonous cocktail for fan negativity, this.

What do you get when you mix babyface Roman Reigns with a 53-year-old Goldberg fresh off his horrendous/hilarious (delete as appropriate) shellacking of 'The Fiend' in Saudi Arabia, of all places? A big pile of dislikes - and you deserve it.

This was WWE's transparent attempt at handing the Universal Championship back over to Roman Reigns without having him beat Bray Wyatt. It didn't work out that way, as 'The Big Dog' took off at the start of the global health crisis, but WWE's intentions were clear, making the situation even worse. Goldberg and Reigns' interactions were suitably intense, though some were never going to forgive WWE for sacrificing 'The Fiend' at Bill's altar.

Goldberg and Reigns are yet to wrestle in WWE. The duo had been pegged for a WrestleMania 37 match prior to the WCW legend challenging Drew McIntyre last week. Perhaps he loses that and wins the Royal Rumble, chasing 'The Head of the Table'?
