Jim Johnston Shoots On 'Huge Problem' For WWE

Former WWE music man Jim Johnston feels sorry for talent. Here's why...

Jim Johnston "feels so sorry" for the current crop of WWE talent.

The promotion's one-time music maestro told the RRGB podcast that WWE's men and women were "being served so inadequately and so poorly" by company management in 2021. That's why, he says, there are no real breakout stars being made; "they’re not putting the right combination of things together to create stars".

Johnston used Steve Austin as an example of what wrestler freedom can do for someone's career. He noted that Austin was stuck in the lowly 'Ringmaster' gimmick until Vince McMahon handed him a little leeway. Then, Steve created the iconic 'Stone Cold' character and became one of the biggest names in the biz.

Jim isn't sure today's workers get that same liberty, and he's not too happy about it.

To Johnston, WWE has become such a restrictive place. He'd like to see some more freedom to create - not just with the musical/presentation side of things, but with the way characters are produced and developed.

Do you agree with Jim Johnston? Or, do you think it's easy to criticise WWE from the outside looking in?
