Jim Johnston’s 20 Greatest WWE Creations

9. Mankind - Schizophrenic

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDWeYAOToB8 This is one of the darkest, most somber instrumental themes in WWE history, and it fit perfectly with the gimmick it was associated with. These days, it€™s rare for a wrestler€™s entrance theme to have any significance of its own. When not directly composed by Jim Johnston himself, wrestlers will choose a song that they personally like, or even songs they produce themselves. But more often than not, it€™s just some generic rock music plays as a wrestler walks down towards the ring. For Mankind, this theme added to the disturbed, twisted, sad nature of his character. He was a schizophrenic madman of sorts, and the slow and ominous chords really played to that image. The antithesis of the rock-heavy themes of its day, €˜Schizophrenic€™ truly helped Mankind stand out from the rest of the WWF roster at the time. There€™s also this second theme, which is a more €˜Attitude Era€™ style remix of the original. Both of them are good, but this one gets recognized because it was the one that played when Foley, as Mankind, won the WWF Championship in one of the most historic moments in recent memory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgJWN8SN-Hc
