Jim Ross’ 10 Greatest WWE Signings Ever

1. John Cena

WWE

Considering he was been the face of the company for well over a decade, there can't be many arguments that Cena is not Jim Ross' greatest acquisition as head of talent relations and scouting.

Cena became the most marketable superstar the company has perhaps ever had. He's still enjoying one of the greatest runs on top of the business of any superstar, maintaining his status as the figurehead of WWE's PG era. For the last decade, even as fans complain of his staleness - Cena remains the company's top babyface by quite a distance.

JR signed Cena down to an OVW developmental contract in 2001, where he wrestled as 'The Prototype' and 'Mr. P'. He moved to the main roster only a year later, getting in Kurt Angle's face in his debut segment on SmackDown. Cena has been often criticised for his in ring skills, though as a total package there has been nobody to rival his popularity with the WWE Universe since he first won the WWE Championship from JBL in 2005.

Cena's ability to engage the crowd and his charisma on the microphone made him one of WWE's most important acquisitions ever. He became by far their most marketable superstar, moving merchandise like no other - despite the critique of older fans tired of his perennial dominance. His time in the business is winding down now, as, like The Rock and Batista, he looks to establish himself in Hollywood. He has a lot to thank JR for.
