Jim Ross’ 10 Greatest WWE Signings Ever

9. Christian

Christian told Chris Jericho on his podcast about his journey to WWE, stating that he went along with long time friend Adam Copeland (Edge) to his company tryout. WWE were taking a look at Edge at the time with a view to signing him, and he squared off with Christian in a non-televised singles bout as a trial. Edge was signed to a developmental deal and then permanent contract with the company, putting a good word in for his buddy on the way.

Christian was eventually signed up too after more try outs, but given Edge pushed for him to get his chance it's a little unclear just how good JR's instincts were on this one. Mind you, even though Christian was brought to JR's doorstep, the Oklahoma legend had the foresight to see something in the young Canadian talent. Christian came onto the main roster with Edge as part of Gangrel's 'Brood,' and went from strength to strength.

Earning nine Tag-Team Championships, four Intercontinental titles and two World Heavyweight Championship reigns, Christian had an excellent run since his debut in 1998. Despite leaving the big leagues for several years, Christian returned to WWE and experienced his proudest moments as a singles competitor - being on top of the tree for the first time following Edge's retirement.
