John Cena's 10 Most Notorious Urban Legends

1. He Never Wants To Turn Heel

Story: "When will John Cena turn heel?" That's the question that wrestling fans have been asking since he turned babyface in late 2003 and he's been locked in that role ever since. It's been 11 years now. He was a heel for about a year before that turn, but that was so long ago that some people have completely forgotten about it now. The reasons for him staying face are that he's the unquestioned top draw in the company, he sells way more merchandise than anybody else, which is a big thing for WWE because it puts money in their pockets. His work with the Make-A-Wish foundation is outstanding and very important for him. A heel turn would change a lot of those things in his life. If he turned heel it could really help WWE as a business because fans would tune in to see what heel Cena is like. The problem is that those fans that hate him may see him as "cool" again and it may be difficult for him to stay as a heel. There is a belief among some people that Cena doesn't want to turn heel and that's why it hasn't happened. Others think it's a Vince McMahon call since he's the boss. Cena's just the employee that does what he is told. Why People Believe It: It's hard to deny his success as a face. While he does get booed by a portion of the fans, there's a reason he comes out with a different shirt every four months. He owns many cars, has a giant mansion and is filthy rich because he's been a babyface for so long. Going heel would be a pay cut. Should We Believe It: This is one of those ones where I'd say 80% no because it's not his decision, but 20% yes because I think he has a say in it. Cena really does value all the work he does with charities and being a role model to kids. He doesn't want to turn heel just for the sake of the business. It would hurt his image. He knows that. Ultimately, it's a Vince McMahon and WWE office decision. --- That's all for this week's Urban Legends feature. The previous editions were about Hulk Hogan, Vince McMahon, The Undertaker and Triple H. Let us know who you want to see next!
