John Cena's 10 Most Notorious Urban Legends

2. He Divorced His Wife Because She Kissed Him On Raw

http://youtu.be/vkJk1WWK8lA Story: Cena married a woman named Elizabeth Huberdeau on July 11, 2009. They knew each other for years and had an on/off relationship for a long time. They didn't have kids together. Cena rarely talked about his personal life. In May of 2012, Cena filed for divorce and it was finalized by July. Soon after that he started dating Nikki Bella. What's interesting about the divorce is that it happened very soon after Cena actually kissed his wife at the end of the March 5, 2012 edition of Raw. Prior to that, there were a few references to Cena having a wife although WWE tried to avoid talking about it. When Cena hugged his dad and then pointed out his wife on Raw it was something new to a lot of fans. They didn't know he was married. The story going around at the time was that Cena didn't realize that Raw was still on (he had to ask if they were still rolling) and it was unplanned that they showed his wife. Two months after that he filed for divorce. Some were calling it the "kiss of death" for his marriage. Why People Believe It: The timing of it fits. That happened in March 2012 and he filed for divorce two months later, so it definitely could have been a reason although there's no proof that it was the reason either. Should We Believe It: No. For as much as we think we know what goes in a wrestler's personal life, we really have no idea. They could have had other problems. There were all kinds of rumors that he was cheating on her, she was cheating on him and because of his lifestyle it's hard to stay married to somebody that isn't on the road the way Cena is. Maybe Cena regrets doing the kiss, but it's unlikely that was the only reason why he got a divorce.
