John Cena's 7 Night Of Champions Matches From Worst To Best
1. 2008 Vs. Triple H
Prior to Night of Champions 2008, Triple H had never defeated John Cena. In fact, at WrestleMania 22 he even tapped out to the former Doctor of Thuganomics.
Cena eliminated Hunter from the Royal Rumble earlier in the year to plant the seeds for this matchup. With John Cena challenging him for his WWE Championship on this night, it would've meant everything for him to get the W. Midway through this match, Triple H landed hard on the outside and tweaked his knee. Cena would target it throughout the rest the match, hoping to soften him up for his submission finisher.
When Cena was finally able to lock in his STF, Triple H gutted it out and even countered out of it. He followed it up with the crossface that almost made Cena tap. Eventually, Triple H connected with his Pedigree to finally put away John to retain his title in this epic championship match.
The Dallas crowd was really on fire for this match from start to finish. WWE did a fantastic job of presenting two of the biggest stars of this era and giving the match a big fight feel. In the history of WWE's Night of Champion's event, this was John Cena's finest bout.
